Not far away from Amsterdam, and easily reached by train (Station Koog Zaandijk), you find Zaanse Schans. An area with green painted traditional wooden houses, and several mills. Not the mills which are used for water level control or for grinding grain, but factory mills. Mills for cutting wood, grinding paint material etc. Some of the mills can be visited. You also will find there a wooden shoe factory, a cheese maker and of course some souvenir shops..... |
